Interview with Nacho Aragón, Creative Director and Co-Founder of NEUTRALE
We had the chance to sit down with Nacho Aragón, co-founder and creative director of NEUTRALE, a timeless and sustainably driven clothing brand born in Madrid, to learn more about his journey and the essence of the brand.
Can you tell us about the history of NEUTRALE and how the brand came to be?
Nacho Aragón: NEUTRALE was born out of a desire to create something meaningful that truly represented who we are and how we live. My co-founder and I saw a gap in the market for a clothing brand with values—something that wasn’t just about fashion trends but about timeless quality and sustainability. We started small, working out of a single room in Madrid and running an e-commerce store from home. But over time, it evolved. Today, NEUTRALE isn’t just a clothing brand; it’s a reflection of our Mediterranean lifestyle, a focus on natural, high-quality materials, and an ongoing commitment to sustainability.
What motivated you to create NEUTRALE? Was there a specific problem you were aiming to solve?
Nacho: Absolutely. The textile industry has a reputation for wastefulness, and we saw an opportunity to change that. We were motivated by the idea of creating clothes that are not only beautiful and well-made but also respectful of the environment. There was a lack of brands in Spain that truly embraced sustainability at their core. We wanted to create a brand that was responsible, timeless, and functional—clothing that lasts, both in terms of quality and style, while having as little negative impact on the planet as possible.
What makes NEUTRALE different from other clothing brands?
Nacho: For one, we are obsessed with the details. From the fabrics we use to the natural dyes, we are meticulous about the process. Everything we produce is carefully crafted, with a focus on sustainability and simplicity. What sets us apart is not just the product, but our philosophy. We draw inspiration from the Mediterranean lifestyle—everything is slow, intentional, and in harmony with nature. We also maintain a strong commitment to local production, which helps reduce our carbon footprint. NEUTRALE isn’t about fast fashion; it’s about creating something that lasts.
NEUTRALE’s commitment to sustainability is clear, but how do you see technology, especially AI, shaping the future of fashion and advertising in your niche?
Nacho: I’m actually quite optimistic about the role AI can play in the future of fashion and advertising. We’ve started to see AI used in everything from customer insights to creative ad campaigns, and the possibilities are really exciting. For NEUTRALE, AI could help us better understand our customers’ needs, enabling us to create more personalized shopping experiences and develop products that resonate deeply with our community. In advertising, I believe AI will allow brands like ours to reach people in more meaningful and targeted ways, creating campaigns that feel more authentic and less intrusive. It’s about enhancing the human touch with the power of data.
What’s something about you or NEUTRALE that people might not know?
Nacho: Well, people might be surprised to know that I didn’t always work in fashion. I actually studied business, and entrepreneurship has always been my passion. My co-founder and I didn’t come from a fashion background, but we were driven by the idea of building something meaningful and timeless. Another fun fact is that when we first started, we would personally package and ship orders from our own homes! It was a real labor of love in the beginning.
What are your hopes for the future of NEUTRALE and the industry as a whole?
Nacho: My hope is that NEUTRALE continues to grow without losing sight of the values we started with—sustainability, quality, and timelessness. For the industry as a whole, I think we’re heading towards a more responsible future. There’s a growing awareness among consumers about the impact their choices have on the environment, and that’s pushing brands to do better. I also see technology, like AI, playing a crucial role in helping us become more efficient and creative in how we engage with customers. The future looks bright, and we’re excited to be a part of that change.
