A Conversation with Marcela Ponce, Co-Founder and CEO of DEMARSON
Today, we’re speaking with Marcela Ponce, co-founder and CEO of DEMARSON, a luxury jewelry brand known for its modern designs and high-quality craftsmanship. DEMARSON has quickly gained a reputation in the fashion world since its inception in 2017.
Marcela, thank you for joining us! Let’s start with the beginning—What inspired you to create DEMARSON?
Marcela: Thank you for having me! The idea for DEMARSON came from my passion for fashion and jewelry, combined with the desire to create something unique that speaks to both luxury and accessibility. After years of working with leading fashion houses, I saw a gap in the market for modern statement pieces that are not only stylish but also versatile enough to be worn every day.
Can you tell us about the journey that led to the founding of DEMARSON?
Marcela: Absolutely! My partner, Jason Crantz, and I decided to launch DEMARSON after recognizing that many jewelry brands didn’t cater to the modern sophisticate who values both quality and style. We wanted to create a brand that embodies sophistication while being accessible to a broader audience. Our journey began with a small collection, and through careful curation and a commitment to craftsmanship, we quickly gained traction in the industry.
What sets DEMARSON apart from other luxury jewelry brands?
Marcela: DEMARSON focuses on creating pieces that combine contemporary design with high-quality materials, ensuring that every item tells a story. We prioritize versatility in our designs, allowing our customers to wear our jewelry for any occasion, from casual outings to formal events. Our commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail really set us apart in the luxury market.
Your pieces have been featured in major publications like Vogue and Forbes. How does it feel to have that kind of recognition?
Marcela: It’s surreal! When we first launched, we didn’t expect to receive such immediate recognition. Seeing our work highlighted in prestigious publications has validated our mission and inspired us to continue pushing the boundaries of jewelry design. It’s wonderful to know that our pieces resonate with both critics and customers alike.
What challenges have you faced while building the brand, and how have you overcome them?
Marcela: Like any entrepreneurial journey, we faced challenges, particularly in the early stages. Sourcing materials, establishing a supply chain, and ensuring quality control were significant hurdles. We overcame these challenges by building strong relationships with our suppliers and remaining committed to our vision. Persistence and adaptability have been key to our success.
Looking ahead, what are your optimistic views on AI and its role in the future of advertising within the jewelry industry?
Marcela: I believe AI can significantly enhance how brands connect with their customers. It offers valuable insights into consumer preferences and behaviors, allowing us to tailor our marketing strategies more effectively. In the jewelry industry, where personalization is key, AI can help create unique experiences for customers and enable brands to reach new audiences. I’m excited to see how we can leverage technology to elevate the way we engage with our community.
What’s one fun fact about yourself that people might not know?
Marcela: One fun fact is that I have a deep love for travel and often find inspiration in different cultures and places. Each destination I visit influences my designs in subtle ways, whether it’s the colors, textures, or even the stories I encounter. Traveling has truly enriched my perspective as a designer.
